Provisional certificate is granted to students on behalf of the original certificate who passes the University or Board Examination, and it certifies that you have undergone the education mentioned in the certificate. For most universities, the actual certificates are issued after a convocation.

This also means that this is a transitional certificate until the actual certificate is issued. The provisional certificate is also accepted by the companies who are recruiting or the universities who are accepting a postgraduate candidature.

Once the degree is issued by the concerned university or college, the provisional degree becomes invalid. Before that, there is no expiry date.

What is Provisional Certificate?

The provisional certificate acts as a certificate of proof denoting that the degree has still not been released.  This certificate helps when applying for higher education or for employment as qualifications hold an important place. It acts as proof to the fact that the person has completed the education from that particular university.

The provisional degree mentions details like the name of the student, the name of the course in which he/she has graduated, division acquired while he/she completed the degree, etc.

When the time comes to move to the next phase in life, then provisional degree helps you. It is helpful for both you as well as the college/university administration to keep a track of the students who have successfully completed their education with their institution.

  1. It is temporary in nature
  2. It mentions the name of the candidate, as well as the name of the course she/he has graduated in.
  3. Helps you in getting an offer letter from the company which you aspire to work in.
  4. Generally has an expiry date until the actual degree is disbursed.

What is a Provisional Degree Certificate?

Provisional Degree Certificates or Provisional certificate are the documents which are disbursed to the students who have just graduated from the university or college. The provisional degree or certificate is a transitional document which helps in identification of the person about his/her qualification.

While it generally doesn’t have any validity, the date of expiry ends the day the university issues original certificate. Till then, the certificate can be utilized to secure a job, and when asked for documents, a provisional degree certificate can be given.

However, the student has to make sure to collect the original degree because, after a certain point in time, universities start expecting you to produce the original certificate.

However, this should be ensured only after it has been more than two years since you’ve been working.

  1. Please note that the certificates are just temporary in nature.
  2. However, even if you produce this certificate, it ensures that you have graduated.
  3. While certificates are important, importance should be given more on the quality of education.
  4. Certificates only add value to certify about a skill that you already have.
